I found a website today called officialpethotels.com. It discusses pet friendly hotels and pet travel tips. It even has a search engine where you can put in the city that you are traveling to and it will "fetch" what hotels in your city are pet friendly hotels. It gives you average price for the rooms and the number of stars. For instance, in Chicago apparently the Chicago Hilton takes pets and is a 4 of 5 star hotel with and average nightly rate of $199.00. I didn't know up-scale hotels were accepting pets. Unfortunately, for Chicago , this is a relatively low-priced hotel. I also checked another good size city ( Seattle ) and found that they list hotels as cheap $74.99 per night. So it covers a wide range of prices for pet friendly hotels.
Although this website seems good, you can also use Travelocity to find pet friendly hotels as well but you need to use the advanced search options. Also, Cheaptickets can do it too with advanced options. Good Luck!
