Maybe you're a traveller--maybe you've been to quite a few places; but, unless you're all-knowing, you'll need a hotel finder sooner or later. I mean, you just can't be omniscient about every hotel out there--even if they're all members of the same chain, hotel standards vary widely in different parts of the world. What's five stars in North America and what compromises five stars in Central America are very different standards indeed. (I've seen the differences myself; and it's quite startling.) Furthermore, if you're heading to a "brand new to you" country, you'll have no idea whatsoever of where the best places are to stay location wise, let alone accommodation wise. So, you'll need the services of a good hotel finder. Luckily there's some excellent ones online that do a great job (as with all things on the Internet, check out the references/accreditations of the service you're dealing with--anyone can have a glitz and glamour looking web site, and yet have no substance to back it up), ones that will be able to help you find just the right fit for your new adventure. By the way, here's another tip, if you have pets, use a good hotel finder to locate pet friendly hotels for you.
