Pets have accidents and some leave a lingering odor. For these reasons, why would a hotel allow pets? Pet friendly hotels are very popular, and many well-liked hotel chains such as Marriott, Hilton, and Sheraton have a pet friendly policy. Pet friendly hotels realize that business and pleasure travelers consider their pets a member of the family. Pets are great companions, and they can make a person's hotel stay a little less lonely. On the flip side, pets are messy. Some animals chew furniture, shed excessively, or relieve themselves on the carpet. Personally, I wouldn't want to stay in a hotel room once occupied by a dog. Fortunately, pet friendly hotels recognize these realistic concerns. In most pet friendly hotels, specific rooms are reserved for pets. Thus, hotel guests who suffer from allergies don't have to worry about pet dander or other reactions. In addition, persons who travel with pets usually have to pay a deposit. If the animal breaks a hotel item or soils the carpet, the deposit is applied toward the clean-up.
