I've travelled a lot--I've been to many different countries. And, there's one constant about hotels and motels: the owners will charge whatever they think they can get! So, if you're using a hotel finder and you pick a location or a name that you really like, and you just click "book it" you'll probably pay the maximum price. But, if while you're checking out hotels and motels you start cruising discount sites for hotels and motels, you'll have a better chance of getting quality accommodations at a fair price. Moreover, if you find the hotel or the motel's local phone number and call direct, sometimes you'll get a better deal during the off season as most of the hotel may be vacant! And, they may really be willing to wheel and deal to have someone paying something rather than no one paying nothing. It all depends, but if the hotels and motels are paying big bucks to have their properties represented on a hotel/motel site, the site will charge top dollar every time. So, realize that not all hotels and motels are created equal when it comes to pricing and negotiating that price.
